Professional Profile and Experience
Dr Nick Richens is a Consultant General Paediatrician with subspecialty training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. He holds consultant posts at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Acute Paediatrics at the University of Oxford Medical School. Dr Richens is also a Fellow of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford, and an active member of the Oxford Emergency Medicine Research Group (EMROX), contributing to world-leading research and teaching in paediatric emergency care. In addition, he practises at Nuffield Health Oxford, providing a comprehensive suite of paediatric services.
Dr Richens graduated from Christ Church, University of Oxford, in 2011. His career has taken him from Oxford to Reading, London, Worcester, Birmingham, and Brisbane, working in both NHS and private settings. His additional expertise covers paediatric intensive care, anaesthesia and neonatal medicine, with advanced training from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and national grid training in paediatric emergency medicine in Oxford.
He holds an MSc in Medical Education from Wolfson College, Oxford, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health as well as a Member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Dr Richens actively contributes to research — especially in general paediatrics, neonatal medicine, paediatric neurology and respiratory medicine — and lectures nationally on acute neurology.
